does anyone recommend bass pro shops to install a power pole and humminbird unit on my tracker?

I've been well satisfied with the service BPS has provided for my Nitro. 

 

I have no doubt they will do a good job on those installations.  They should, since they do many of them.

 

However they may be pricey.  I installed my own Humminbird 898, after asking them how much they would charge to install it when I bought a new Z-8 last year.  I had done it on the Z-7 that I had traded in.  It's a fairly straightforward job once you determine where to put the transducer.  I don't know about power poles.

 

As for the quality of their work, I've been satisfied.

After taking my Tracker to the BPS outside of Richmond I always seem to have to take it back to have something corrected.

 

They may do a good job on the Nitros but for me I will have to consider going to Jerry Cooper for future work even though Jerry's crew has done some poor work in the past.

 

Now you can take your Tracker to their shop with the knowledge that if they screw it up you will have to make sure they understand that they did the poor work and it is up to them to repair it at no cost. My BPS shop seems to like to charge you again for their screwups.

 

One other problem with BPS service shops. Seems they can't keep their technicians. Everytime I go to the place there are new people of which I have no idea of their level of competance. So ask for the most qualified tech they have to do the work.

Random marine shop.. I think I'm just to paranoid. I thought bass pro would of done a fantastic job but figured it would be pricy...

Make a weekend project out of it.  The warehouse has a youtube video up on how to install a power pole.  Looks simple enough.  Probably going to need to buy a bracket though on your boat. 

What bruno said.....two very easy projects if you take your time and read up on it. you can get the bracket for the PP that goes between motor & transom to avoid drilling holes. I mounted mine to the jackplate. 

Neither one is very difficult to install if you have basic hand tools and are a little handy. The hardest part will be running the wires for the depth finder. The power pole is easy.

I bought the adapter plate for the power pole since i didn't want to drill into my boat. So the motor will have to be removed, which I never did anything like that before.. And for the humminbird unit I never installed one before which doesn't seem that difficult, but I will def be placing the transducer in another location other than the factory location. I never got on plane depth readings where my factory transducer is located. Wayne P explained that for me. Does anyone recommend any marine shop around philadelphia area or over the bridge in Nj other than taking the ride up to Harrisburg to BPS...

Just remember that the installation is only as good as the person that does the install.

 

I haven't had any good experiences with the BPS in Richmond.

When I got a new Tracker, they didn't even know how to set the tach to read the motor even after I took it back twice for that. I found the solution on-line and did it myself.

yeah i'm not installing the power pole directly to the transom. so the motor will have to be removed for the install. anyone know if harrisburg bass pro shops do good work recently?
