I really like the GL2 Jig and Worm rods and I've held the 6'8" M/XF. It felt really good. I've read that this rod is also recommended for smaller top waters as well.

 

No where around here carries the Top Water series TWR802C. This rod will be used for PopR's, Spit N Shads, smaller walking type baits. Nothing to large.

 

Can anyone comment on the Top Water series of rods from Loomis?

I checked that out too, I hear that the Loomis topwater series aren't really that great.  The only one I hear that is any good to get was the TWFR 935, they say it's a great for all types of frogging.  All else steer clear is what I understand. 

I have used that series, and prefer it over the GL2. That being said, I just picked up a used IMX 782 on the bay for much less than either of those new. I highly recommend that strategy, if you have the patience to do so.

I actuslly considered it, but the handle is too long for me.

Since you say the handle is to long on the 782 you may want to check it out. Being a shorter rod it allows you to get into tight places and yet you can let it rip over open water without a problem. One more thing this little puppy has plenty of backbone, love the way it locks up when set the hook on a larger fish...............
