choosing the right sunglasses

Featured Replies

Im looking to get some polorized sunglasses and Im not sure what color would be best. I like to see thru the water but at the same time see the original colors of my surrounding as close as possible. I have somewhat poor eyesight only good enough to drive without glasses. I have worn unpolorized sunglasses and I hate when they darken everything alot and it makes me dizzy and become poor at juging things. My frand has these chepo polorized glasses they have like a blue lens and make the water look yellow to tan-brown and they seem pretty good to me. What would be a good choice for lens color for me? I wanna see thru the water as much as possible and to see the original colors of my surrounding as best as possible and to see enough light rather than block it.

I guide on the lake I fish on and I have two pairs of glasses one is a pair that is Amber Lense with Green mirror, I wear these as my morning evening glasses. I also use them for driving I really like amber lenses for Driving (truck not boat).

I also have a pair of Blue mirror grey lense. I use these after about 9-10am on sunny days or whenever the sun gets u p and it get's bright outside. I like these because it darkens the light a tad but enough to where it makes my eyes relaxed and not strained. WHen you are spending countless hours out in the sun it's worth it.

I wear Coasta Del Mar sunglasses and before I owned a pair I didn't think they were worth the money. WRONG! My eye fatigue has disappeared, I love my two pairs and will never go back to cheaper glasses.

That's just my .02, but I did like my Calcutta glasses but only the dark lense the amber are way too light IMO

Hope this helps

Go to www.cabelas.com and search for sunglasses. On every page there is a link to their Buyer's Guide which has some good information, including lens color.

Blue mirror with gray/smoke lens also works perfect for me too. Colors are the same with or without the glasses on. My pair is a prescription Oakley glasses I got about 6 years back. Never knew they were polarized until I took them fishing a few weeks back. Now I won't go to a pond without them.

Whatever you get make sure the glasses fit snugly around the contours of your face and start to wrap around. You don't want a glare coming from the side. I always wear a hat when I have my glasses on. Just seems to help reduce glare even further.

Some of the better sunglasses made. You can read about what colour lenses are best for specific conditions.
