Topwater In Spring

Featured Replies

When is the earliest you throw topwaters? Specifically frogs. I live in N.Illinois and wanted to hear your thoughts or strategies. I always associate topwater with warm water, but what do you think?

I live in FL, and the common answer would be sunrise/sunset. Whenever there is low light conditions, cloudy is always good for topwater. Being in FL is different from Illinois obviously, and sometimes I catch fish on frogs in the middle of the day when it's blazing 90 degrees plus.

There's only one way to find out if they will go after it or not, cast it!

I was catching them last year in March on top, different this year though, just earlier this week I got the first topwater bass of the year.
