Kayak Transducer Mount

So I went ahead and redid my antenna spring transducer mount today. Pretty simple basically two L shaped pieces of aluminum, a light duty cb antenna spring and the appropriate screws and bolts to hold everything together.

The last one I did I didn't have the right materials but I made it work for a little while so this time I did it a little more sturdy. I just wish I had a metal brake so I could make some sharper bends but it should more than get the job done.

I like that spring idea. I have been wanting to make a mount for the front of my jon boat. I don't like the transducer mounted on the trolling motor, really messes with my DI. Nice simple design.

I wish I could take credit for the ingenuity involved but i did see it on a texas kayak forum.  I just like that I don't have to worry about hitting it on stuff and it will spring back into place .

Very nice job. How does it work? Is there any thing you would change if you could? I really like the placement of transducer unit, it`s out of the way. The spring on your unit would be life saver if you would hit anything with it. Good Job.

I haven't been out with this set up yet but if I did it again I wouldn't mind having a U Shaped bracket for the bottom that would hold the transducer but without a metal bender I wasn't able to bend the aluminum enough to make it work. I could have heated it up I guess but I was to lazy to dig out the propane torch.

Hopefully I can get out this weekend to test it out and I will report back on its effectiveness.
