Lake Guntersville

Featured Replies

Hello all, I will be traveling to Alabama in two weeks (May 17-18) so my wife can attend a conference.  I plan on spending those two days on the water.  I have never been there and know very little about the lake.  I'd appreciate any info (water clarity, average depth, cover, stuff like that).  Also if you know of any good patterns for this time of year, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance, Paul.

I'm going tomorrow and will let you know how it goes and what it looks like.

Thank you.

Its muddy and cool now fish are in 0-14 foot around grass

I was down there this past weekend. It was my first time on the lake. Friday was difficult because the wind was brutal. Caught a bunch of small fish around grass edges with a rattle trap. Caught only 1 good fish flipping.

Saturday was the most miserable day I have been in the water. It rained all day and it was only about 40 degrees. My rain suit leaked and I didn't have a dry stitch of clothing on my body. However, caught fish in the edges of grass on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Also caught fish around bridges that led to backwaters on a 6xd.

Thanks everybody!  I'm pretty comfortable fishing grass, so I like what I'm hearing.

I was there yesterday. The current was RIPPING and the water was very muddy. Lots of fish around though. Swim baits and deep cranks worked well. I can't describe how much I enjoyed it.

I will be renting a boat from the town creek fishing center in the state park.
