Hunting Aoudad With .308

Featured Replies

hey. i may be hunting for aoudad soon, and i have a question. i know this is a tough animal, so, whats the farthest shot i can attempt with a .308 to insure a quick and humane kill?? im not talking about personal skills, the question is oriented at the bullets energy. i feel comfortable taking shots at 300 yards when deer hunting, but i have never shot an aoudad before, and this is open range, we will be spot and stalking but im not sure we will be able to get much closer than about 200 yards...

If you can put the bullet where it is suppose to go then you should have no problems at 200-300 yards.

thank you!! i has thinking i was a bit under-gunned for a 300 yard shot... i hope we get a shot, and i hope it is closer than 300 yards, but due to the terrain, im not sure what we will encounter...

i hope to report back on sunday with a pic.... hopefully...

With a 308win caliber taking a 300 yard shot should be easy. That caliber is capable of making over 1,000 yard shots. I feel very comfortable at 500 yards with my M14. Just remember to practice.
