Son's First Fish

Featured Replies

Took my four year old son for his first real fishing trip Saturday. He's been with me before but was more interested in playing in the water and catching tadpoles with his net. This time he actually wanted to fish, so we stopped and got some crickets and went to a small private lake close to the house. It was funny watching him crank that reel handle for all it was worth and trying not to let the fish ****** the rod away from him. I was impressed with how well he did because I apparently had forgotten how hard these fish fight on ultralight tackle. Needless to say, I think I have a new fishing buddy for as long as he wants to go with me.

That's awesome!!! Congrats to your son!! Hope you have many more special days with him!!!

excellent! me and my brother try to take my niece but she likes more to play with the worms and wont let us put them on the hook cause they are her friends lol

It may just be relative to the size of your boy, but that even looks like a good size sunfish to me!  Congrats!
