Rick Clunn Signature Series S-Glass Crankin Rods

Featured Replies

I bought mine earlier in the year (deep crankbait model) and used the crap out of it this weekend. It is a little heavy but not grossly so. I feel the deep cranbait model would excel with 6XDs and other really deep diving baits. It seemed a little too much for 5XDs, but they are at the lower end of the weight rating for the rod. They have a nice limber tip and a ton of backbone. Maybe a little too much backbone for 5xds. It just didn't feel like it really loaded the rod on the cast. So far the biggest fish it has handled has been a 3.5 and did it with ease.

I own one of each in the lineup. Got them for $17 a pop through a sponsorship, otherwise I probably wouldnt have tried them. turns out theyre great treble hook rods.  The jerkbait rod and deep cranking rods are my 2 favorite.

Does anyone have info on where they found out these were going on sale?

I work there and saw nothing on those rods. Yes deals are starting this weekend but nothing on those rods

I got an email saying something about a big fishing sale and that those were gonna be a 2 for 50 deal

I ended up getting them. I ended up with the jerkbait rod and gave my buddy the option for the other one. Fished it a bit to get the hang of it. Not very heavy at all (and Im used to a crucial) and it seems great for smaller squarebills which I fish a lot

Thanks guys for all of your post. I went in to my local Dick's store and they had around 20 rods on display. I decided to go with two of the clear water rods they have the broadest range of lure weight. I went in before the sale started so, I had them put the rods back for me. Went in Sunday to pick them up and ask the saleman how the sale was going, he said they sold out within an hour after the doors opened. Glad I went in early and picked out what I wanted.

If you bought the Rick Clunn rods during the sale. Post what you bought and how you like or don't like the rods......

Thanks

Tight lines

I got the 7' medium lipless crankbait model. I like the flex of the rod and the overall weight/balance with the reel mounted feels pretty good. I won't be fishing with it for a while. But I am surprised that 5/16 oz is the upper range of the lure weight. I have rods that are more flimsy that are rated for more weight.

Guys, just got back from using my new clear water crankbait rods.....LOVE THEM..........I used everything from 1/4 crankbait to 1/2oz lipless.....and spinnerbaits .....love the action and the way it cast....first time having a glass rod...can't believe what i've been missing....just got to get a reel for my other rod...

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Is this sale still going on? Does anyone have these rods still in stock at their local store?

Most places are sold out and they are not showing it online anymore. You might have to wait until the the next sale.
