Spoon

Featured Replies

Does anyone still use a Johnson Silver Minnow spoon? It used to be popular with a pork trailer.

The Johnson weedless spoon is still popular in some regions of the country and Canada.

Persuader American Tackle makes a upgraded weedless spoon with a good sharp hook and baitfish patterns better suited for bass fishing. Soft plastic spinnerbait type trailers work OK if pork rind trailers bother you.

i use for saltwater flats fishing lol

I use them when fishing for pike in the weeds. I find pork rind trailers kill the action. I use a 3 or 4 inch twister tail instead.

You're welcome, now I had to delete my first post! I still use one with a grub as a trailer.

The Johnson 1/2 or 3/4 oz spoon was designed to be used with a thin 3" or 4" X 3/8" bass pork strip and works very well with that trailer. If you split the tail about 2" and use either white or chartreuse colors works good for bass and other predator fish.

This is my favorite for thick grass or other vegetation. I like a 3 or 4 inch Uncle Josh Bass Strip. Some of my biggest bass have been caught with this combo.

The 1 1/2 oz. Musky Size Johnson spoon is a great big pike bait, with or without a trailer. Just make sure you use a steel leader! :)
