I live in Southern New Hampshire and usually at this time of the year I am on fire. However as of late I can't seem to buy a bite. Whenever I get out I seem to only get one or two fish yet the people I fish with will double my limit. I throw exactly what others are throwing and usually I get nothing.Could someone give me advice, is it just a curse?

Unfortunately, I have experience in this area. If it's just happened once or twice, then it could be attributed to random distribution. More often and likely something's wrong since things would even out if something wasn't wrong.

 

You need to look at the various things that could account for the differences. Things like line size and color, depth, retrieve speed and tempo, lure color, position in the boat and other things. If there is no answer there's the possibility of a negative odor on your lures which calls for adding some kind of scent. I once eliminated the other factors and thought odor might be the problem and I was right, as things changed starting with day 1 of using scent.

hey Fly i feel its been an odd year for me....... you know we are the only state that goes from snow one day to 75 degrees the next...... LOL spinnerbaits have been hot for me, as well as a texas rigged wooley bullee, and a texas rigged zoom trick worm as well as the magnum trick worm... ( WB has been on watermelon glitter or something of the sort, and the trick worms have all been watermelon candy and green pumpkin magic) i have a feeling this cold front and eratic weather has really killed the bite but that could be just my personal opinion. keep slinging the baits its bound to turn around, as it did for me for a week. oh and the spinnerbait catches have all been on an ish monroe alabama shad 1/2 oz double willow sliver blades... hope this helps and hope to see you oout on the water some where... =)

I'm in snh also and struggling to catch anything at all never mind anything of any weight. I'm glad I'm not the only one. It should get better as June approaches once the post spawn bite is on. At least I'm hoping so. I have tried every technique I can think of and still nothing.

I went out today and caught one small bass while my friend managed a 3lber and some smaller ones. I still don't know what's up. I did however slow down my fishing style and I felt quite a few more bites, just missing the hook sets. Hopefully this big warm up will get them biting, tomorrow will be a nice sight fishing day as well.

the only thing i have not tried yet is the scent....... but i have also been trying a bunch of different stuff this year from jigs to the new scatter rap series from rapala. but i will throw those for a bit and then i switch to worms because im a rubber man..... the jigs have been hitting good for me also, which is a new thing i am trying this year.  what part of the tooky do you fish fly???

I fish the Henniker section of the Tooky quite frequently, I haven't been able to fish up there much lately due to work and school. During the summer I plan on catching some pig smallies up there on the fly rod.

nice.  i fish the concord/hopkinton section. or i used to, havent in years but we used to hammer the fish in this section.... our section is so loaded with kayaks now its a pain to go anywhere

I have been doing NH lakes for many moons, Spinner baits work well to find the active ones. Pick your patterns on what type of bass your looking for. Right now Largemouth are very active if your on a boat any sunny shore line that has cover right over it is a gold mine, cast a wacky rigged weightless senko where the water meets the shore and your sure to get the big boys right now. Just got doing a lunker tourney and lost by a 1/2 pound with my big guy coming in at almost 6.

Drag a weighted wacky-rigged Senko, see if that works.  And be prepared for light pickups.
