Fising Senko

Featured Replies

Just back into fishing and purchased some 5inch Yamamoto Senkos.

I went out today and had it weightless texes rig.  Do you fish these like a plastic worm?  I tried jerking them a few times then reeling up the slack, then jerking again.  I never really let it sink to bottom.  I didnt see much action to the bait itself so I felt like I didnt know what I was doing.

How do you guys fish senkos?  Do you let it sink to bottom, jerk, reel slack and do it all over again?  How long do you let sit on bottom if you do?

Thanks

I fish em a few ways..T rigged, I wil fish them like a worm. Let it sink to the bottom, then give a twitch or 2..or, give a smooth tug on the rod, to lift the senko off the bottom about 6" or so..let it rest for about 20 seconds, and repeat..You can do this with both weighted, and unweighted senko's..Another popular way is to Whacky rig them, which I favor IF there isn't a bunch of weeds, or snotgrass..You can flyline it, (unweighted) or use a bullet weight Or..dropshot it.

Personally, I like to toss em weightless, the senko seems to produce more action, which gets more bites.

Oh, you can also slowroll them on the bottom.. ;)
