Anyone fish around the Ft Belvoir,VA section of the Potomac river? I have stupid question but should I fish it as a river or something like a lake. I haven't really bass fished it to much. Normally fish it for catfish.

Just got a free bottle of yum crawfish fish attractant. Since I'm new here I don't know if there is any crawfish in the river so would that fish attractant work here?

I'm told by many sources there are crayfish (mudbugs) in the river, but I can't say if the attractant will work; the only way to tell is to try it.  IMHO, I gave up on chemicals some time ago, but I did just picked up some JJ's magic and will give it a shot. 

Would it be too much to ask (pretty please?) to share that PM with me as well Travler? Been wanting to take my small boat out on the Potomac, but haven't yet, just because I wasn't really sure where to begin.

I can do that, but it would help to know where you'll launch from and what kind of a boat you have.  I don't want to give you something you can't use.  So just a little info so we're on the same page.

I'm in Springfield, so I think the closest areas would be Belle Haven, or Pohick Bay areas?.   I have a 15 ft fiberglass semi-V Wetzel (1979) with a 9.9 HP gas and a small 30lb Transom mt electric trolling motor.   Not the best of fishing boats, bought it for running a trotline and crabbing, but dying to get out on the Potomac and it's tributaries to fish from a boat, rather than only from the shore.

Nothing wrong with that rig at all, I started with about the same back in 84....
