3.5 years ago, primarily got it for crabbing, but the crabbing sucked last year and having a 20 month old now, I don't get to go as often as I would like. So I'm looking to part ways with the it. Was hoping someone local was interested.

Great detailed report! I've yet to catch a snake head, but haven't really fished for them. I need to give it a try soon! Stealth is always important in any type of fishing situation. You might catch a fish here or there but you'll catch more and bigger ones when you limit the sound and noise you make!

@Quanjig... What's the best pattern on the Rez?. Might go out this weekend on a john boat.

I did alot of research last month for storing a 17ft fiberglass boat and I have to admit that prices in the Springfield/alexandria/Burke and Lorton areas are pretty expensive. I have a No watercraft trailer policy" in my HOA (which scks a$$ anyways but thats for a different day). I found a street 2 blocks away and parked it on the street. my only issue is when I use it, might not get my spot back when I return lol.

My Costas sunglasses finally arrived....had ordered them after my B-day in march but the color/frame style i wanted were out of stock! Can't wait to see how well they help me see fish on beds... I need all the help I can get LOL:P

Choporoz......Willing to let me tag a long one outting so I can pick up some tips on Occoquan River/Belmont Bay fishing?? Fished it Sunday and got skunked!

Why not team up on them, get 4-5 boats together and fish the middle of the res...when they come rowing by, an old lure with new treble hooks thrown cross their rowboat would send a message loud and clear. after all you were there first, achored...they would be at fault for rowing that close to you .....

Sunday we fished Occ. River since I heard there was a tourny Sunday. Launched out of Occoquan park and proceeded down to 95 bridge. My brother asked what he should throw, and having read the tips on here, I told him a small spinner bait....told him to go with the single blade Willow Leaf for more vibration. since the water was stained. His very first cast landed a nice 2.5lb bass..in about 10' of water....unfortunately that was the last bite of the day. we worked our way south, past the sunken boat/barge and fished the lilly pad groups. i was throwing a lipless crankbait and jig and worm. Nothing. a few boats around us caught a few fish....but we really struggled in our v-bottom 14" boat with the wind and a transom mounted trolling motor. really need a foot mounted trolling motor to be able to fish and control the boat and not continiously make adjustments with the motor by hand. Ended up with a nice sunburn on my face, luckily I wore long sleeve shirt and pants! Still enjoyed the first day out on the water this year.

Headed out Sunday Morning (hopefully) with my brother. first chance this spring I've had to wet a line.

I want to take the boat out to Occoquan Sunday Morning with my brother. First chance I'm getting to fish this spring. Not sure If I'll make it simple because I have gigs Tonight and Saturday night. Waking up early Sunday is going to be tough. But if anyone hits the Rez today or tomorrow, let me know how you make out:)

hahaha I had my first daughter bafck in December....havent had much time to fish either!! Daddy Duty is 24/7!

Were they shallow, spawning , or still pretty deep staging and waiting to move up to spawn? Were they hitting search baits (spinner baits, crankbaits) or soft plastics? Thanks!

How's the fishing been since that nasty cold front came through right after all the reports of the Great fishing? Things slowed back down?

Great Read..I had no idea catfish were this big of a problem! One more species to blame for the poor crabbing LOL. I knew catfish would chase baits, I've caught one on a spinnerbait and one on a Senko before Article makes them sound like they are going to be an issue like Snakeheads.

BTW I'm in springfield/Burke off of OKM rd. Would love to get together and fish, but having a new 4 Month old baby really eats into my fishing time...

Nice to see the bite is warming up. I would have gone out this weekend but had to be in St. Marys Co, MD for an early gig Saturday. Won't be able to fish until another week or so. Busy time of the year for me

Hey Gang, Springfield/Burke area here. Usually fish Lake of the Woods in Orange county VA where my parents live, and the Occoquan (recently as of Last year, still learning my way around the Res).

havent been on since late fall, but itching to go fishing soon. Those who have fished the tourny or been on the Res. the last week or so, where have you marked fish? What kind of pattern were they holding in?

I would love to co-angler sometime with someone who has alot of expeience as well. someone who has a good knowledge of electronics and can expllin what they are seeing, the structure nd how the fish relate to it on graphs. never owned a boat with a good fishfindr, but when I do, I'll want to know how to use it effectively.

Im pretty sure what you see Jumping are Carp. Saw the same thing when I was out occoquan a few weeks ago. Thought they were bass at first but if you notice they are more bronze/silver than the green color of a Bass.
