Fishing Partner / Someone To Learn From - Fountainhead / Occoquan Reservoir

Featured Replies

I can't seem to catch anything bigger than 1.5 to 2 lbs.  I fish just about every weekend and have serious interest in joining the Fountainhead bass club for the tournaments although I have no boat yet (which should be remedied by next spring).  I guess what I am looking for is someone to go fishing wish from time to time to show me some tips, to learn from.  Strange request, I know, but I know there are a lot of people out there who enjoy fishing as much as I do

It gets frustrating not ever being able to get better at your loved hobby.  So if any one needs some one to go fishing with, I am always looking to go

Is the Fountainhead bass club only a boater league?  No co-anglers?  If they do offer the opportunity to be a co-angler that is one of the best ways to learn.  I was only fishing for a few months and decided to join the league as a co-angler.  Two years later I am holding my own with the boaters.  The best way to learn on the water if you don't own a boat IMO!

as a sidebar this forum is the best "off the water" learning!  :)

I try to fish every Saturday im not racing ,ive posted up before when I have a empty seat next time I do ill send you a message to see if you want to ride along

I couldn't imagine trying to fish the res from the shore all the good spots are someones back yard

Felix, it's a buddy team tournament. If you have a boat and a friend that wants to fish, you are more than welcome to fish! We do a 6 fish limit, 14" min. Last tournament took almost 27 lbs to win!

quanjig - i'm looking to join next year. Is there a minimum amount of events you must fish? I don't think this would be an issue, just curious.

To qualify for the 2 day, end of the year classic, you either have to finish in the top 15 in weight, or if you have finshed evey event, we have 2 provisional spots for the next highest weight after the 15th spot. You can fish as many or as few as you like. Check out the website for all the rules

I would love to co-angler sometime with someone who has alot of expeience as well.  someone who has a good knowledge of electronics and can expllin what they are seeing, the structure nd how the fish relate to it on graphs.  never owned a boat with a good fishfindr, but when I do, I'll want to know how to use it effectively.

yeah 1.5 - 2.5 lbs I feel like I can catch all day.  I have all the equipment needed. outbaord, trolling motor, fishfinder etc, but no boat.  i really want to learn what's catching the big boys.  Again, if anyone needs someone to go fishing with, i am available almost every Sunday (morning is better) in fact I plan on going out this sunday, solo if I must
