Spillways

Featured Replies

With all this rain we have gotten today, i'm sure the spillways will be working overtime tomorrow.  May head out at sunrise and hit a couple and pray for some freshwater snook!  Tried to do some bass fishing today in between the bands of rain.  I got caught about a 1/4 mile away from my truck when a downpour hit, ugh!  tomorrow should be minimal rain though!

good luck man all the spillways here (lake worth, lake park, etc) we have been slaying them and mostly slot/oversize ofcourse because season is over now lol...but sometimes they open them on flood stage so check out the sfwmd.gov site to see how far the ones you are fishing will be open

its being stupid right now but should be fixed soon...just pick your area and look up the name of your spillway (lake worth is S155)

Spillway snook caught on the saltwater side are not freshwater snook.  They are snook coming in to feed on some of the freshwater fish being pushed out of the spillway.  Freshies are landlocked snook that swim thru the spillway and get trapped and do migrate distances inland.  I do hear that they do not reproduce in freshwater even they they can tolerate it, I don't know for sure.

The fish don't care about the rain, they're already wet........lol.

catch yourself some mayan cichlids and use those for bait. they are like snicker bars to snook. better use a bigger setup and hold on. love those spillway snook.
