The only stupid mistake is one you don't learn from. With that being said don't fish anywhere close to any hippo...

I've done this too.  More than once.  One day while fishing I changed spools to match the conditions.  After a few casts I realized my line was bunching up on one side of the spool.  When I check it out I found I had missed the line guide.  carp!  So I had to stop and re-string my rod.

I've done this 2 or 3 times and have only been fishing baitcasters for like about a month of so.

 

 

I haven't gotten any serious fishing related injuries....yet (I'm sure I just jinxed myself) but a few weeks ago I was trying to pull a 1/4 oz. Roostertail out of a tree.  It came flying back and caught me right in the gut.  I was wearing a thick hoodie so I didn't get any hooks but I got a heck of a bruise.

I dropped a strike king 6s crankbait while organizing tackle this winter instinct had me reach out and catch it only to bury a treble into my hand man those hooks were sharp

I was fishing one evening and as the sun started to set I took off my sunglasses and propped them on the brim of my hat. A few minutes later, a bee was buzzing around my face so I took a swipe at him with my hat and watched a $100 pair of shades go flying into the lake and sink to the bottom. 

Not me, but I sure feel for Brandon Palaniuk.  There's a real possibility that that mistake cost him $100,000.00.

No possibility it definitely cost him a hundred grand and a classic berth. Hes totally out of the tournament. Thing i dont get it it says Minnesota law prohibits the culling of a five fish limit in state water or in Minnesota/Wisconsin state border waters. So if youre fishing a tourney in Minnesota how are you supposed to cull fish?

Thatsso dumb of a law. You can catch five fish in Minnesota but cant cull. You have to stop fishing. You can leave minnesota waters, cull then go back to fishing in minnesota. His GPS was telling him he was wisconsin. Messed up.

I've definitely sliced a finger or two open. I broke a d**n rod tip myself this morning. Stupid things happen all the time it seems

I broke my rod tip on my 6'8" St. Croix Mojo Bass this morning getting a spinner bait out a tree. And 2 days ago I broke my rod tip handling a 4.5lb bass like an idiot.

Luckily Dicks Sporting Goods took the rod back TWICE, today when I went there I purchased their 2 year warranty. That's why I continue to go to DSG they treat you right.

My buddy hooked big bass bass and she went down in the weeds he lost his lure and snapped his new rod after 30 minutes of trying to free her. A year later in the same spot she missed my topwater lure turned and hit it again and down she went. I just lost my lure. But I got a good look at her. I paid the price for making a long cast cast from shore.

I was cursed for breaking new rods. I went thru one new rod a year. My last ROD was a brand new fly rod I purchased on sale in Maine. It cost me a lot. Of course it's the first time I ever fly fished and had success. In the dark I caught the top 6" in the door when I closed it.

They were fishing a tournament out of Ashland, Wi.  You can cull in Wisconsin.  He went over the line into Minnesota waters.
