Newbie From La

New person here, so ill say a little about myself.

I am from Covington, la and fish a lot of fresh water, and also some salt in the rigolets and other places in LA. Been fishing for about 10 years and just bought an ascend d10t kayak. Now trying to rig out the yak with the little bit of college money I have.

OK Sharks, welcome to the Forum. Wonderful having you with us, especially wealthy people living across Lake Pontchartrain from NOLA.

Ever go to Perlis Men's Shop? If David Perlis ever shows up tell him Sam say's hello. Love those crawfish polo shirts.

Now, you fish the Rigolets. Not in a kayak unless you want to end up in Lake Borgne!

I grew up fishing the Rigolets and the swamp area to the north and east where there are now houses off Route 90.  Caught some beautiful speckled trout, redfish, drum and sheepshead, not to mention those croakers and gafftop catfish.

Please post your Louisiana adventures as the majority of the guys and gals on this site have no idea about Louisiana fishing, especially in the Biloxi or headed out to the Chandeleurs.

But we are talking about real bass fishing and not in Audubon or City Park. Real bass fishing from a kayak or a pirogue. In the marsh and swamp, over by the Mississippi River. In the Atchafalaya where it is catch something or get eaten by the alligators. Bass that us guys outside of Louisiana, Florida, Texas and California dream about landing.

Post pics; let us know how you do; what baits you are using; and of course, what is going on Bourbon Street and in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night.

Super having you with us and we look forward to your posts, especially the ones where you are in a pirogue fishing for bass in the Rigolets!!!

Ha Sam I actually live about five minutes away from perils. Love those shirts too just wish I could afford it. As for fishing I was planning to hopefully hit up the basin sometime in these next two upcoming weeks. Also I've never been to Audubon or city park and really don't even plan to haha. I'll let y'all know how tiger stadium is as Ill be there every Saturday home game! Still can't wait for the season to start

I went to the rigolets last week and fished under the bridge a little with no luck, then moved to some little inlets to sport fish for reds. Fished for like an hour or so and caught 2 just over 20 inches. I am going back there soon to fish just for reds probably

Sharks, we never caught much under the bridge. Too much current to fight.

We hit the bank and into the marsh areas of which 90% are gone to the developments.

Yes, Perils clothing is expensive but it is top of the line.

Wonderful about you hitting Tiger Stadium this season. Hopefully CBS and ESPN will not mess us up and make us play in the 2PM time slot.

Keep us posted about your fishing adventures. What is so much fun in Louisiana waters is that when you cast your bait you have no idea what will pick it up.

And when you go into a fast food restaurant and they want your name to call when your order is ready give them "Go Tigers." It is funny to hear the guys and gals yell "Go Tigers" without a clue what it means.  When I pick up the order I say "Go Tigers" back to them.

Good luck and Geaux Tigers!
