Hi I was planning on taking my fiancé on a fishing trip 2 weeks before the wedding.  I’ve been hearing good reviews on the Gold Coast so I think that would be a good place for a pre-wedding fishing trip, right? Are there any fishing charters based in that area that we could join? Is a day charter a good idea or is it better to spend the day fishing instead? Hoping for your responses. Thank you!

Well if you are looking for saltwater, you'll be looking for a charter whereas if you'd like to go freshwater fishing, you will be looking for a guide.  Either way, contact the local chamber of commerce to find out whats in the area.  READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING!

Have fun and congrats!

There are guides for saltwater, I've used them in the keys and in Mexico, generally fish inshore flats.  Your guide will pole on a platform looking for fish to sightcast to.  Charters usually are on larger center console or cabin cruisers and will have a mate as well as the captain, most target species are bigger.

Given my choice and my age I no longer have the desire to target fish that are several hundred pounds, I've done it and it's fun, but beats the crap out of me at 68 years old.

For me it's a toss up on preference, catching moderate sized fish off the beach or going with a guide and targeting fish like a permit on the flats with spinning or fly.

I took my new bride to niagria falls and it rained for two and one half days. I then went home and took her camping and fishing. We forgot the flipper for the pancakes and eggs so I just tossed them in the air. The camp grounds had showers and I had the camper cap on the truck. We had a blast. Life was great fourty years ago.
