Hummingbird 898Si Vs Hds 7 Lss

Featured Replies

Okay, I need to clear this up. My dad and I are looking for a GOOD unit with either Side Imaging(Hummingbird) or Structure Scan(Lowrance). Now, I know when you are paying say, $1000 for a certain lowrance unit, that is without the transducer, the transducer is separate and is like another 600 or so dollars. My dad doesn't like that. But when you are buying a Hummingbird, are you just paying for the Module, or does the Transducer come with so its a one and done deal, you aren't looking for anything else? Thanks for you help.

As said the HB comes complete with transducer. The single HB transducer does 2d sonar, Di and Si.

The Lowrance HDS (non touch) come with the 2d sonar transducer. For the Di and Si to function you need to get the seperate LSS-2 which comes with the brain module and Di/Si transducer. Since the transducer is dedicated to just Di and Si, the imaging is superior to HB. It also is nice to mount the Di/Si transducer on the transom and the 2d sonar on the trolling motor for drop shotting up front.

I had a HB 898c si and now have the HDS8. The Lowrance is much better IME.
