Jackson County Tournaments - June 17, 2013

Lake Jacomo - Monday Night - June 17, 2013.

I know I keep promising that the fishing is going to pick up, but it's still tough on Lake Jacomo. Water temp mid to upper 70's. All the grass is coming up, but fish are still hard to find, particularly quality fish.

Monday night was an absolutely beautiful night. The little rain from mid afternoon went away, and all the thunderstorms stayed south of us. Our turnout on Monday night is staying right where we would like it. We had fourteen boats this week. Good enough turnout to pay three places, still have some good paybacks, and not enough boats to crowd the lake. We can always stand a couple more. Don't be shy. Come and join us.

Keven Bollinger and Max Nelson won with 2 fish at 6.3 lbs. Keven had big fish at 4.2 lbs. $245 pay back for 3 1/2 hours of fun fishing. Beats going to the bar.

Fourteen boats weighed in 16 fish, so fishing is slowly improving. I've seen a lot worse tournaments.

I can't say what the fish are doing. I had expected them to be in the submergent weeds, and fished that way most of the tournament. Caught a handful of shorts and one 15 1/2 incher. Jigs and Chatterbait. My plastic bite was dead, but I heard of other guys that caught fish shallow on plastic.

Blue Springs is fishing tonight, and every Tuesday, from 600P to 930P. $50 entry. 4 - fish limit.

Jacomo is on Wednesday night, from 600P to 930P. $40 entry. 4 - fish limit.

We're back on Monday night from 600P to 930P. $30 entry. 2 - Fish limit. If you like to fish alone, this is the place to be on Monday night. We set this tournament up with the 2 - fish limit to allow fishing alone. We had 6 out of the 14 this week fishing single.

If you've never been, but always wanted to try, tournament fishing, these are good places to start. Close to home. Low entry fees. Bunch of good guys, and we'll coach you on how to get started. We have a lot of fun. You will too.

Try any of these events. You'll enjoy yourself.
