Question about changing hooks???

Featured Replies

I recently cut off the old hooks on a couple jitterbugs because I was losing some fish. I added two number 2 hooks, and now they tangle. I lost 4 fish this morning before I figured out what was going on.

I realize I need to downsize or go with a shorter shank hook to eliminate the tangle problem, but which hook should be shorter, the belly hook or the last hook on the back of the lure????

Thanks for the input.

The hook on the back should be smaller.

Try #4 Owner Stinger hooks ..the # 2 seem kinda oversized for this bait, But can use the previous suggestion by Bass-Brat also.

Yep, I put #4 Owner Stingers on all my Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, and other lures needing hook replacement. Make sure to use split rings to attach hooks and DO NOT remove hook hangers from your lures. Cut off the hooks and add a drop of superglue to each hook hanger screw.
