Shakey Head + Trick worm = ?

Featured Replies

Not really sure what to do with this lure...I threw it out today, but the jig head kept getting caught in the weeds.

Is this a good thing to throw into the grass, or do I need open water?  Do I let it sit, or jig it along the bottom?

Thanks guys!!

Maybe your jighead weight is too heavy, for weeds normally I fish with a 1/16 oz jighead.

depending on how thick the weeds are, I may not throw a shaky head into them.  If the weeds are thick, i'll try around the edges, and in the holes.  If the weeds are TOO thick, it will be hard to work the shaky head the way it shines.

I'm thinking I could throw it just T-rigged weightless?  Does that work?  I've never fished a trick worm before (Senko/weighted power worms).

Charlie Brewer's spider jig head comes through thick weeds better than any other jig head I fished.

i would use a weight, probably 1/16oz-3/8oz. I don't  use trick worms or any other worm without a tail. I like a curly tail of some sort.

Yes it works, but a weightless trickworm takes a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time to sink, you can wiegth it slightly with a nail sinker ( 1/64-1/96 oz ) to make it sink a little faster.

+1 This combo is one of my go-to baits. I use it most everywhere but thick grass. 1/8 oz is my favorite weight.

In grass a T-rigged Trickworm can be good producer. Anything from unweighted over the grass to a heavy weight down in it... 8-) Good luck.

I like throwing shakey heads mostly in rocky/gravely area for smallies.

Having the right head for grass helps as well. The Spot Stalker or the Davis hbt heads are the best I have found for coming through grass.
