Frogging In The Pads

Featured Replies

I was fishing the pads with a frog tonight. This monster strikes and I set the hook. I fight with it for a bit and it wraps up in the pads. I get free and then realize the fish is off. All I do is pull in lily pads. I do this 3 times. Nice fish, wrap up and catch pads. I am catch and release guy. I removed the barbs from the hooks and realize the cause. Looks like I am replacing a hook on my frog. Lesson learned for me. Will still use barbless but in super heavy weeds will use barbs.

Using barbless hooks is just begging to lose half your fish...... why would you do this in an effort to make a hole half the size of when the hook with the barb is half a millimeter?
