Dropshot Hook Help

Featured Replies

Im about to hit my local BPS here in a little bit, and im gonna buy the tackle necessary for a dropshot rig. Im new to the rig by the way. What would you guys say is the best weight size, and hook size for pond fishing. Its just hard for me to believe those tiny hooks catch fish. Thanks!!

I use size 1 and for small lakes without a lot of wind I use 1/8 or you can move up to 1/4 if you feel the need to! The whole purpose is you want to be on the bottom the whole time. I would also recommend getting the vmc dropshot hook. It is easy to tie and will save you on line twist.

I use the lightest weight that I can keep on the bottom. Sometimes it's 1/8oz, other times it's 1/4oz. I use the Gamakatsu Split Shot/Drop Shot hooks in a 1/0. If i'm fishing around vegetation I switch to the Roboworm straight shank hooks with the keepers and t-rig my baits.
