New Flipping Hook

Featured Replies

If anyone watched the live Day on the Lake with Terry Scroggins Friday then you saw this. For those who didn't, the Big Show shared his secret flipping hook. He uses spinnerbait trailer hooks!

He fashions a bait keeper out of spinnerbait wire and heat shrink. I tried myself with just heat shrink and a 3/0 Mustad trailer hook. Seems like it will be perfect for Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws and Chigger Craws.

I don't think he uses spinnerbait trailer hooks. He said that he uses the hooks that are used to make spinnerbaits. He mentioned that he uses Owner spinnerbait hooks. I'm guessing that it is probably the Owner 5320 Spinnerbait Hook. Here is a link: http://www.ownerhooks.com/pages/products/hooks/specialtyhooks.htm

You are probably right. I wish they would've shown how he creates his bait keeper. I tried just heat shrink tubing and it worked for a while on a spinnerbait trailer hook. After a few fish and 45 minutes of fishing the tubing just started to slide down the shank.

I have read and article in Bassmaster magazine or on the website about the hooks he uses.  They are spinnerbait hooks and the shrink tubing used is the kind with adhesive on the inside. I think it is on the Bassmaster website, InSider website, or look in the archives on InSider for the article. Hope this helps.
