Looks fine, as long as you are not feeling any resistance when you reel you should be in good shape.

I don't think you've over-filled the spool, but it doesn't need to be that full either. If you are having trouble controlling the cast (bird nests) even after brake adjustments, pull some of the line off and try it less full. An under-filled spool is easier to control.

I haven't tried casting it. I work 2nd shift and won't be able to test much til this weekend but I wanted to make sure it wasn't overfull

On a side note is that a Lews TP on a *** Rod? With PP?

For my personal preference it would be a little to much. I like to stop when I'm a little over an eighth of an inch from the edge of the spool, but that's just me.

Just curious, I am using a Lews TP with #50 PP Slick 8 and I just bought a *** 7'3 MH yesterday. Its gonna be my new Texas rig setup.

Best I can tell, you have it filled to where the bevel starts.  That is too much according to the little sheets that come with the reels, and too much according to a lot of fishermen here...including at least one tuner.  Would be just right for me and a couple others.  Can be (is?) more prone to backlashing.  However,  casting distance is improved slightly, IPR is improved slightly, and I've been told that the drag performs slightly better.  Hard to prove that last tho.

 

I've been driving 50 miles one way for almost 28 years.  Sure wastes some time out of your day.  Especially if there is an accident.  An hour turns into 2-1/2 hours.  Few years ago I went from a Sentra getting about 42 mpg to a LaSabre getting about 22 mpg.  With cost increase of gas, my monthly gas bill went from about $150 a month to almost $500 a month.  Now that is a serious cut into my fishing funds.
