Where To Cast

Featured Replies

I'm started fishing off the shore and off points and my question is where do you cast?

Depends on where/what you are fishing but fan casting is a good idea from shore.  Basically cast along the shore line to your left and right and everywhere in between.

I work over each place really good by fan casting. I try to cast parallel to shore were I can too.

Work up and across the points. Try to cast in the direction no one else does do something different.

Like evryone else has said, fan casting works.

Also look for minor changes in the area youre fishishing and cast towards that.

It's always good to target visible cover and/or structure. But I also cover as much water as possible because there are lots of good spots where there is no apparent reason for it being good.

I agree with Marty. I am limited to bank fishing, and I come across spots at times that are good, and cant understand why.

Fancast so you can cover as much water as possible and hit every piece of cover you can.  Also don't be afraid to fish the shallow stuff.  You might be surprised how shallow the bass will go.  I've caught fish out of 6 inches of water right at the bank.

I third what Marty and BigBlock said.  I also find I have more luck from the bank when I stand a few feet back from the water if possible.  While I lose some casting accuracy and distance, I make up for it with lack of shadows and noise.

Also try dragging something heavy ( jig t/rig c/rig) it helps get a feel the bottom never no when you might find a log or bush no one knows remember where it's at and cast at it with whatever bait is working for you
