Ive Lost My Love For Daiwa

Featured Replies

Maybe its because I cant afford the best of the best of their gear or maybe its just bad luck. Whatever it is, I cant say I will be buying anymore Daiwa stuff at this point.

Start of the year with an Exceller(cheaper daiwa) magnetic brakes exploding and I figured it was a fluke. Then I had a spinning reel fail which I was certain was due to age.

Just this past Sunday morning I set the hook on what I thought was a fish. It was not, I explodeded their newer blue colored rod about 6" from the cork. Took it home and was gonna put the Lexa on another rod, reel foot snapped in half. I know youre thinkin I mustve jacked that hangup, I didnt set the hook any harder than normal, maybe not even as hard.

So 4 daiwa failures, admittedly not their top of the line stuff in six months is enough for me.

My lexa is holding strong. My old aggregate work great and I sold it. Now I have a bad taste with vendettas and veritas. My friends use them fine. I think at the lower level of brands the quantity may out shine the quality. It shouldn't but it does. Then on some there is a string of duds

When that reel foot broke I ordered another basspro bionic. Ive been having a great season with the one I bought in early spring and they went on sale again. At least with them, when the reel foot breaks I can possibly have it replaced. My budget with a 2 year old doesnt allow for $200+ reels, I wish it did. Not only that but I have another addiction known as hunting that adds fuel to the fire.

Sorry to hear that.  My original b/c reel was going to be a Curado 201E, but when TW closed out the Daiwa Fuegos I wound up with 2 of them.  I'd have to be home to know for sure, but I do know right now that I have at least 17 Daiwa b/c reels and 4 Daiwa spinning reels.  Two of the spinning reels have been out of production for several years.  Only one of my b/c reels is currently in production...a Zillion.

Luckily I haven't had any problems with any reel breaking...Daiwa or others.  I did receive a TD-Z 105H that had to be sent to a tuner for repair.  Should I be knocking on wood?  :teeth:

I have 3 Daiwa rods.  No problems yet with any of them except for the one I received with no end on the tube, and several inches already broke off the tip.

See, I fish shore. I try not to be hard on my stuff but I still end up doing it. And I have busted 2x graphite frame reels. But the bionics seem to be good
