Do Bass Eat Toads? How Can You Tell Its Age?

Featured Replies

I snapped this one a couple of nights ago ! post-37564-0-98034000-1374676841_thumb.j This one looks older but was wondering how old ? Also if a toad is good for bait , where would you hook it ?

I wouldn't bother with a live toad, though I'm sure a bass would try to eat it.  Why not try something that would catch several fish?  Like a Ragetail Toad or Shad?

I agree and some toads are a protected species so I wouldn't mess with it

Depends what species and what state. Cane toads are considered invasive here in FL....Besides he is in Mexico, US laws need not apply. lol

Bass love frogs/toads

All toad species have parotid glands which are behind the eyes on the side of its head which secretes bufotoxin.

Don't know if bass are effected by this toxin.

We used frogs as a kid up in canada by hooking them through the lips.  I felt bad after hooking the first one though and "accidentally" let them all go :)

I imagine toads could be rigged the same way.
