Gopro On Boat Question..

Featured Replies

Thinking about buying a GoPro Hero 3 Camera fit shooting video of me fishing off my boat, but I'm not sure what the greatest way to setup the camera. I see lots of people have their cameras positioned high in the back of the boat. Just wanted to see what everyone uses to mount their GoPros.

Thanks,

There are a bunch of ways to mount a go pro.  Yakattack makes a mounting pole that you can mount by itself or use a ram ball to mount it to which provides more flexibility in positioning.

My hero2 also came with a bunch of sticky mounts that work pretty much anywhere and are great for me on the kayak.  I also know they make suction cup mounts too so that may be another option.

This is my custom setup for my boat.  Fits into the top 2 rod tubes, supported by braces to the floor. Sits about mid chest level, which doesn't get too much sky while also not filming my feet!  Something you will just have to play with.

I use the suction cup on the visor of my boat right now. It's ok...I would like a higher up angle though. I think in this off season I will configure a way to do that more efficiently from the back of the boat. Getting something up about head level will give a better view.

I have used to head strap a little but mainly have mine mounted different places in the boat.  I have stuck mounting bases all over my boats for different angles and am still experimenting. The nice thing about the adhesive bases is you can usually just put slow steady pressure and they will pull off without leaving any residue and then they will stick somewhere else just as well.  A blowdryer or the hot sun will help with the stubborn ones.

I know this thread is a little old but my GoPro is comings soon. I was thinking about mounting mine on my Talon, it is a little higher then the windshield and should give a better angle don't you think? Do any of you use the remote to turn yours on? Or do you just leave it on the entire time and switch batteries?

Wifi will reduce your battery life by close to half. Only use it when necessary or if its plugged into a 12v adapter.
