I should add that a popular way to fish these baits on the tidal Potomac is to troll them in the shipping channel. Then you have to determine whether a trailer is needed or not. The channel varies in depth down to 28 feet and is always murky. Generally if you cast them elsewhere, which is usually 5-8 feet outside the shipping channel, depending on where the tide is, a trailer is not needed.
