ok guys so i started fishing like 6 months ago and i catch bass and peacock in my lake but when i fish from my backyard i dont i have to go to certain spots to catch them ... so my question is why cant i catch them in my backyard if i dont want to take my boat out? im using a spinning reel with worms, flukes, almost anything.... im also using texas rig on it and letting it sink and then jerking it once or twice then i reel then jerk twice then reel etc.. PLEASE HELP!!!! lol thank you everyone in advance!

there isn't a lot of fish there? Try weedless rigging a 4 inch senko and see if that produces.  Its kind of tough to say why you arent catching fish. What depth is it? what kind of vegetation and cover would also be useful. Have you tried throwing any hard baits at them?

First of all, Welcome! Your question seems a little vague, could you give some more detail about "My Lake" and "My Backyard" so that you may get more detailed responses? You mention a boat, is your backyard on the same lake? I've read on this site '90% of the fish live in 10% of the lake', so sometimes you need to take that boat out and 'fish where the fish are'!

Well my lake is about 3 foot ball fields long and 2 fields wide ... My backyard is the same lake as where I use my boat... There really isn't shade in my lake so I don't know how to catch them.... I've caught bass, peacock, bluegill, Mayan cichlids,gar , carp.... And my neighbor caught a 30lb tarpon... So I sometimes I don't want to take my boat out (12ft Jon boat) and I just want to fish my backyard ... What can I do

I am assuming you live in S. Fl. your profile is pretty vague. People will help you a little bit more if they new a little bit more details. As far as your question, right now this heat in S. Fl is brutal. If you do not have any noticeable cover, the fish are probably seeking refuge at the deepest points of your lake. Does your boat have sonar? You may be able to ID ledges or humps. You may also want to start fishing at night since you live on a lake. That would be your most productive time to fish right now. Good Luck.
