New To The Site. Hampton Roads Virginia

Featured Replies

Hi my name is brent. I live in Hampton roads if anyone wants to fish. I do the majority of my fishing for largemouth and some striped bass when there hot on top water. Grew up in south Florida flipping slop, pads, and cattails and worming almost year around trying to adapt my southern stye habits from shallow. Dense muddy lakes to clear deep reservoirs. Any tips would be awesome . Thanks guys- brent

Hi Brent, and welcome! I fish up here on the Peninsula.

There are South Side guys who can give you tips for the waters down there. Up here, at least in the reservoirs I fish, 20' is about the deepest, and there's not a lot of pads, cat tails, but plenty of weedy slop.

Guys swear by cranks and such, but I've found the most productive to be Senko/BPS Stik-O, and Zoom Finesse/Trick worms rigged how you like. My fave is wacky, but I TX, and split-shot often, too.

yeah I have done great at Lake Prince this year my best day was a 7.02 and two back to back  6'ers on a 5/16 perch colored jog and pig. and i consistently pull large bass out of prince. the other Suffolk lakes and Portsmouth lakes haven't seemed to produced since the spawn. I think its the aerators in prince keeping the bass active.

my issue is i know how to finesse fish and have all the gear. its just every time i go out to only finesse fish/drop shot/Carolina rig deep i find my self flipping and worming creature baits and jigs in 3-18 feet of water. I've done decent on swim jigs. but cant seem to ever get the bite thats keeps me hooked like the flip

Greetings and Welcome Brent :)
