New In Eastern Pa

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

I’m new to the forums & would have to say for the most part totally new to fishing.

I live in eastern PA about a mile from The Nock.

Having just turned 50, instead of buying the “red convertible” I bought a 2013 Crestliner 16 Storm.

Now it’s time to learn how to fish!

Last time I picked up a fishing pole was about 40 yrs ago fishing for sunnys in the pond down the road from my house.

I’m reading the articles on BR & looks like canned corn & hotdogs just won’t cut it anymore.

I already feel I’m in way over my head & I haven’t even walked into Cabalas yet.

Welcome to the forums!  Wonder if I can talk my wife into an early "mid life crisis Ranger?

Hello and welcome!

Welcome aboard!

The 17 Storm can hold up to a 60hp motor so unless you got a 20hp on you'll have to run the trolling motor on nox.

Thanks All!

I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions.

tomustang,

I Bought the 16 Storm which has a max of 50 hp.

However I took the factory stock 4 stroke 20 hp Merc. because that's the limit on Nockamixon.

It seems to be enough (for now).

I can get on plain & reach 20 mph when I'm the only one in the boat.

Not sure why Nockamixon is limited to 20 hp when Beltsville is unlimited?

Both lakes are about the same size.

I'm not really sure why, I heard it use to be less and they recently up'd it. It's good you got the max hp and that'll be plenty for everything around here. Don't know where I got you had a 17, silly me.

Perhaps the traffic is the reason, their's a lot of kayakers

Welcome aboard, Dave!

You picked a good place to move.  My grandma lived about 2 miles from Nockamixon and I fished that lake for about 15 years before moving down to florida.  There are some BIG fish in that lake, now you just have the fun task of finding them!

Welcome Dave.  The Nock is a fun but challenging lake.  It surely holds the big ones.  Have you been out on it recently? I'm probably heading down there this labor day weekend(weather dependent). Good luck out there!

Welcome. Is there such thing as a mid-mid life crisis? I need a Ranger. Oh I also call them Sunnies too.
