Dale Hollow In December- Tips?

Featured Replies

I typically make a few trips to DHL in the summer months. It's not the greatest time to fish there and I typically only go out at night. I'm planning a trip in early December this year, which is supposed to be a good month to fish DHL. Unfortunately, I have never fished in the winter before and already have enough trouble trying to figure out a deep, clear lake like DHL. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm very excited to try this out!

I'm looking to fish it in late Oct-early Nov. Nov. & Dec are suppose to be good months for smallies. Not sure how i'm gonna fish it either. One train of thought tells me deeper thermoclines the other tells me rocky shallower shorelines if it's sunny.

December is a good month to go.  Throw the big jig, float and fly, tailspinner, swimbait, and jigging spoon.  I've been wanting to go night fishing there all summer but a car accident changed my plans.  It will be too cold to night fish soon, but the day bite won't turn on til mid november.  Good luck the last year and a half the size and numbers have been way down because of the fish kill.  There are still plenty of good smallies to catch though, and even if you don't catch any its still one of the most beautiful lakes in the country.
