The last couple of days have been out of the norm, bonita have been coming in close to shore.  My sling jig has been working magic catching fish around 10#, great fun on medium spinning gear.

I was talking to a beach angler today at the office, he said he saw 3-4 foot long cobia jumping out of the water chasing mullet. a 5 foot shark in 12" of water nearly beaching itself. The frenzy lasted for about 45 minutes he said. Also stated he never seen cobia go airborne even when he has hooked into them. He wasn't fishing that day, just enjoying the beach. I was a couple days ago.

Is this the mullet run? When can it be expected?

We have seen some but not a lot of mullet, the run hopefully should start around the end of the month.  It's more than just mullet, lots of white baits start showing up too, a fish a cast is not unheard of then.  Cobia are awsome, great fight and great eating, squid on a feather is a good ticket for them.

Ok, thanks. I have to keep my eyes and ears open. May have the opportunity to fish from a boat in the tidal part of the river mid to late month.
