Rhode Island Fishing Spots

Featured Replies

I have been out of the fishing game for a long time and have recently decided to jump back into it.  Last time I fished I was about 12 years old and its been a good 17 years......  I recently visited Omega Pond in the East Providence area have had some good luck but with minimal spots to fish from the shore.  I was wondering if there were any suggestions in RI (Pawtucket, Lincoln, East Providence, Smithfield area) that has decent shore fishing spots for two people and have a decent stock of Large Mouth Bass. Our choice of bait are usually Senkos with minimum use of crankbaits and jigs.  Again I am kind of a beginner here so any help would be appreciated.

Twenty years ago I used to fish all over the place.I always had good luck on Johnstons pond,Silver Springs, and I rented a canoe and fished Wordens pond and had a blast. I caught a 5lber out of silver springs on a 4'' Berkley power worm(motor oil) in the middle of the summer. Also did well with a black and blue jig in the colder months. PM me for more details.

I'm in EP myself. I frequent Burr's Pond in Seekonk. I just pulled my first LMB out of there from the bank. Brickyard is a nice spot as well. Haven't had luck with LMB there but I know they're around. Olney Pond in Lincoln Woods is supposed to hold some big bass but I haven't found them there yet either.

PM me if you want to talk local spots. I'm in the same boat as you, fished a lot when younger and just getting a bit more serious about it now. :)

Just wanted to add that Burrs pond fishing hasn't been so hot. I'm sure it will improve with the temperature cooling down this week. However I am hesitant to go at all. For the past three days when I have shown up to fish there has been a creepy fellow parked by the bank in a mini van. He just sits there with his door open starting straight ahead. The weird vibe is getting to be a bit much for me. Lol

Thanks a lot, I will have to check out those spots.  I have caught some fish in Slater park off the bike path and in Lincoln at Scott's pond but all small LMB.  What are you using for lures/bait?

I was having luck with crank baits but have switched to a black and blue jig with Rage Claw trailer. Jigging was a mystery at first but I caught a nice 6lb. LMB at Burrs followed by two 3-4 pounders on the same day! I ventured over to the bikepath/pond just north of Slater Park last week. Looks like a bass sweet spot! But access was limited from the bank. :(

In just over a week I will be headed to Stump Pond as well. It's a bit more of a drive but is supposed to be good fishing. I will let you know how that goes.

I was just taking a look at Burr's Pond on Google Maps, where do you gain access to this pond?  It looks like there are houses that are blocking access to it.  Just wondering because I might give it a shot sometime this week.

The entrance to Burr's is South East of the pond. It's a well hidden road that looks like it could be another driveway right off of 114A. Next to the small parking lot is the main bank where I have made all of my recent catches. There is also a trail on the East side of the pond that leads to a small bridge. I've heard bass can be found in that area as well but have only had luck with Bluegill and Crappie at that spot.

I am going to look into using the jigging lures that you mentioned.  Where do you buy them? Are they two separate pieces?  Sorry I really am just a beginner......

Sent ya a PM. The jig itself is one piece. The trailer (craw shaped) is a plastic bait you put on the jigs hook.

This is why you need to go to Burr's pond and jig! 6lbs maybe... not sure but she felt like a beast to reel in.
