Memphis/north Mississippi Information

Featured Replies

Hey guys, new here and I have some questions. I’m from the north Mississippi/ Memphis area and I’ve recently got back into bass fishing and I am going  for the big bass now.  By big bass I mean 3+ haha. I’ve caught small ones all my life and recently just can’t find the right lake or pond to go to for the big ones. I have done research on here to find lakes around the Memphis area that has good fish in them and this is what I have come up with.

Halle Park in Collierville

Grove Park in Germantown

Those ponds behind the “pay to fish lakes” at Shelby Farms

Now I just need information on those lakes. I’m a planner and don’t want to drive all the way out to these places if I can’t fish there….so my questions are…

Is Halle Park and Grove park public lakes? Are there places to park there or do I just park somewhere around the lakes?

I’m just wondering since I don’t want to drive out there and the lakes are private or anything like that.

ALSO…do any of yall know of any good lakes or ponds in the north Mississippi area, such as olive branch, Southaven, and hernando?

Thanks for any help.

Also, any help on what kind of baits I should be throwing at the spots would help too.

Thanks a lot

Halle and Grove are both public and both have places to park.  I do not know any in the North Mississippi area.

The baits range from day to day.  Try what you have confidence in first!

Halle park...park by the businesses on the neighborhood side and fish the levee. Usually good for a couple fish. I normally don't walk the whole thing anymore. Fish from the bridge back to the big culvert drain thing.

Haven't been to grove in a while. Last time the better fishing was back on the wooded side of the lake. Careful tho..lots of ticks and snakes over there.

I have been to Halle, Grove & Chick-Fil-A on Germantown many times and never gotten 1 bite.  I have seen some pretty big fish there, but they are too smart for a newbie like me.

I have had great luck in little ponds.  I am moving to North MS in a month and will update you on what I find out there.

I've fished Grove about seven times without a bite.
