Featured Replies

i  found my way here by searching electric only bass boats. and wow some nice info here fellas. i have recently downsized from 21 to 19 to 18 foot bass boats all the way to a kayak. i really love fishing from my kayak, but looking for the right boat to turn into a electric only fishing machine..cant wait to steal some of yalls ideas..lookinbg at a 16 foot smoker craft thay may do the trick. not a big boat but compared to the nucanoe frontier 12 that im fishing from now its a battleship. lol ill be in and out daily so any advise i can get on this build will be great..

well didnt get the smoker craft, checked craigs after dinner and a 90 model 16 foot bass tracker was just listed with or without motor. ran over and snatched it up.already got nice metal decks and new carpet. with a recess trolling motor tray..cant wait to start playing wit this one. now guys chime ionfigurations front n on motor options, battery vs rear etc.. any help is appreciated.. thinking of 80 on front and 80 in rear. seen some with two motors on back, whats the real advantage? always heard a trolling motor is only gonna go so fast regardless of how big or how many..please chime in..

I fish out of an electric only rig built on a G3 1652 and I can recommend 2 sources:

Tinboats.net

Fishonfabrications.com (this is the guy who built my boat. He's also "bassboy1" on tinboats)

I have an 80 upfront and two 80s in the back. You're right in that a there will be a point of diminishing returns regarding jonboat speed since you won't get on plane. My current boat configuration gets more speed from the 2nd motor, but certainly not double the speed from only 1 motor. To me, I like two since I get more speed, longer time on the water (since I can run both my rear motors at less than 100% to get max speed), as well as giving piece of mind that I can still get back to the ramp if one of my motors has trouble.

Try together at least some of the batteries toward the front of the boat for better speed

thanks i was hoping for some info..thats good stuff. seems like the batteries up front would cause it to plow water.but ill try it.so you have 6 batteries, how many up front?
