Best Casting Distance, Spinning Or Bait Caster Whats Your Real / Rod

Featured Replies

what rod/ real combo can you cast the longest?

My 6'6" spinning rod with my #20 okuma exipor spinning reel with 8lb yuzori hybrid line is probably my best casting setup throwing a 5/8oz spook. The key to casting longer distances is the line. No one comes even close to my casts. I get other fishermen commenting me about my long casts.

The rod and the lure give me max distance.  A 7'6 med spin rod with a thin profile lure like a jig fish (every company has different name for them), making an educated guess based on how much line is left on the spool, may be around a 100 yds.  A buddy of mine with a 7' med of a different brand casts by me.  These sling jigs are the hottest thing going now, you can troll them, offshore vertical jigging and cast them.

My 2 Calais DC's are my distance kings. Have had them on a variety of rods but mostly GLX and NRX 3 power rods. It can be tough to get a good hook set at the extreme distances, though. Still, it has caught me a few fish over the years to be able to cast that far.

Longest casting rig I have is a CH50mg tuned with 12lb Tatsu on a GLX 893. I can literally spool it with a 5/16 T-rig.

My 7-11 Cumara with a CH200e will chuck a 3/4-1 oz bait 85 yards consistently.
