Quantum Rod Identification Help...

Featured Replies

Hello! I'm looking for some help getting the specifications for an old Quantum Graphite Series Rod (model #: QGC60MH). It has "Made in U.S.A" printed alongside Quantum logo and model #. A call to Quantum was no help, other than confirming that the rod was at least a decade old. If anyone has any info (Year made, flex, recommended line/lure weights) I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance!

Thats the problem with Quantum, most of the work force there was only in their teens a decade ago... :laugh5:

I remember seeing something about that rod when I purchased my Big Cat rods from them, back in 03.

QGC60MH = Quantum Graphite Casting   6'0" Med.Hvy.
Most Quantum casting rods in MedHvy handle 8-17lb test, lure weight 1/4 - 5/8oz.

with some handling 10-25lb test, lure weight 3/8 - 1 oz., and, have fast tip actions (Quantum calls it tapers),
but all of this should be listed on the rods stickers, except for dates.... :Victory:

Tight Lines!  :fishing1:

Thanks for the info .RM.! It seemed stiffer than an old St. Croix that I have from the late 90's, and am hoping to use it for jigs and plastics, so I should be good to go!

The line wt. on that was 8-17lb, the lure weight was 1/4 - 3/4, and it was a fact action rod. The reason I know is I had one and it is more than a decade old, I believe it was around '92 to '94 when I had that rod. I have a brand new 1992 Quantum e-glass cranking rod, it is a tour USA edition that had a blank made by Lamiglas, I got it a few years back when someone had it for sale, taga were still on it and even the cork handles still had the plastic wrapped around them with the original bar code from Bass Pro Shops, I paid $23 dollars for it and originally it was $149. Quantum was a made in the U.S.A. product up until the late 90's, maybe 2000 but the blanks were all made by Lamiglas at one time including the graphite series and they were pretty good for that time.

Just a decade old? That's newer to the 60's &70's rods I been using some have the chrome plated steel eyes too. Some of these older rods still preform well.
