What Can You Tell Me About This Reel?

Featured Replies

This reel is my father's old baitcaster that he used when I was a kid. He got it sometime back in the 90's,and is touted by him as the top of the line back in its day.

I cant really find much info on it, value, reviews, etc. Just wondering if anyone here has had one or knows anything more about it. It casts well, but had a bit of a grinding issue before I cleaned it and reoiled the bearings.

It's weird to see"Super High Speed 6.3:1" when now we have a 9.1:1 revo rocket.

lol yup. Same with 2 bearings being something special, when now reels have upwards of 10 bearings.

I have some older Shakespeare and a Mitchell baitcasters that all have flip up hoods like that but I can't find the dip stick to check the oil. Just kidding but they are neat. I would clean it, oil it and give it a wax job. I do that to all my older reels. Do you plan on using it? I would if I were you. I enjoy taking them out for some fresh air. And maybe landing some fish too.

I was using it occasionally but since I got my Lews it's been shelved. It was clean. The dirt all over it is the result of the girlfriend splashing it with mud while we cleaned out the garage one day.

PR2BHi:
Came out just prior to the TD1 & 2Hi (circa 94) same frame shape.
Heavy corbon fiber drag pad, 6 pin instant AR, 2 BB, flip switch, 9.0oz weight.
I have seen it for sale on the Bay for 20.00 - 50.00

What's the frame made of?

Frames for most all Daiwa BC reels were heavy spuncast graphite 10oz. in the 90's, PR's , PS's, TD's, Megaforces,  etc.
