Slugs For Bait?

Featured Replies

I was out in the Garden today getting worms for fishing, i noticed a ton of slugs under the dead growth. I scooped up about twenty or so of these guys. I am not a live bait fisherman when I fish, and I have never used slugs as bait before. I plan on doing some trout fishing and bass fishing this evening in two different ponds Has anyone ever used slugs here for fishing?

LOL, that does not sound enjoyable at all.

Slugs are better left sitting on a rock melting under some table salt.

I never tried slugs and probably would be interesting how you're going to put it on a hook.  I am sure you will get bites though, not sure the type of fish you want.

I've used live grubs before (when removing weeds during the spring time, I detest these guys) and have had good luck catching bass and perch.

I just did a quick google, someone said they caught catfish, walleye, bass and perch with them.  The only problem is getting rid of the "slime".

If you can catch gills on a leech I'm sure that they'll hit a slug.

Caught 2 Largemouth bass with slugs this evening, and two more with worms trailing on a lure. I guess what answers my question. Slugs work as bait for Bass,
