Poconos Pa Bass Fishing - And Moon Phases

Featured Replies

I've been planning my trips about the New & Full Moons (and a day or two before and after each phase). During these days, there are 4 "bite" times (2 major and 2 minor). These times coincide with the tides. Although freshwater lakes don't have high and low tides, the fishing sure turns on during these times. On these two trips, the total fish count was 30+ (lots of pickerel, *sigh*)

Only one of these fish was caught during the peak morning sunrise time. The two bigger bass were caught in the afternoon and the first one you can see was caught in bright, overhead sunlight.

Lure choice couldn't be simpler. Crank baits and jigs have been the producers. I'm totally convinced that the moon is a major factor in catching a lot of fish - as well as some big ones.

Caught my PB during the "super moon" this year.

Then, on those moon-days, throw some bigger baits to offer a nice-sized meal for the trophy fish ;-)
