New Georgia Member Been Fishing All My Life...introduction.

Featured Replies

New member here from Georgia wanting to say hello.

I'm a 31yo old male and have been fishing before I could remember (only know from pictures I've seen).

I live in southeast Georgia and we have lots of good fishing spots around here.  10 of the 45 largest Georgia bass have been caught in Fort Stewart ponds.  I live right outside of Fort Stewart (10 miles) and do lots of fishing in the ponds there.  I'm hoping to one day get on that list but no one has caught anything large enough to make it since 2002.

I also do lots of river fishing.  The most recent bass I caught was out of the river and weighed right over 5lbs.  Not too bad for a river largemouth.

I have never personally pulled anything too large out of a pond but have a quick story.

There is a small 1 acre private pond I used to fish at.  It was dug back in the early 80s.  It is by far the smallest pond I've ever fished yet had some very large bass in it.  I would regularly catch 3-5lb fish but knew there had to be bigger fish in there.  Well one day I invited a friend to come along with me and wouldn't you know he catches a fish that weighed 11lbs and some change.  Talk about luck (or maybe he just had mad skill).  Anyway he has the fish on his wall.  I don't see him much these days but when I do I joke about him taking my bass.
