X3 on the Carbonlight. I don't own a St. Croix (though this forum is likely to 'force' me into one) but really like my Abu Veritas (6'6" med/F) which loads up a little better than my Carbonlight (7' Med/F). Both, to me, are equally sensitive.

You will love the reel it's smooth and not to mention it looks good too lol. But when you get out on the water you will see what I am saying.

Since you're leaning toward St. Croix, I'd get the 7'M Avid that's in the Flea Market section for $110. 

Spend a little exxtra and get a 7' mf Avid off eBay. No point in having a great reel if you cant pair it with a great rod. Otherwise 6 months from now you're going to wish you spent a little more because youll wonder how much better your setup could be...trust me. Spend now, feel the satisfaction forever.
