I had a good time catching bass chasing schools of shad this weekend, but the fluke didn't produce quite as well as I thought it might have...What is your favorite lure/technique for when bass are chasing the shad?

Glass Ghost Clackin Rap, Yo Yo to mimic a dying shad.

#1 is a fluke for me, for more than 1 fish chasing at a time that is. If its single fish chasing then I tend to have better luck throwing a vibration bait at them.

i second the clackin rap and also a spinnerbait or luckycraft pointer do really well

Super Fluke, lipless crankbait, and a clear Spook Jr.

sorry meant to mention that using a white spinnerbait and burning it on the surface so that the blades are interrupting the surface of the water is also really affective

Strike King Red Eye Shad in sensitive shad and chrome blue

I use a sidewinder with a white bucktail or a silver gayblade.

While they are active on top, a spook.

When I can't see them, #7 Shad Rap.

I've had success with a 1/2 oz. Kastmaster spoon. I always rig it with a ball-bearing swivel. It casts like a bullet, even in the wind and I've caught largemouth, smallmouth, white bass. wipers, and stripers on them. I like the chrome or blue/chrome with a dressed treble.

One technique where the Kastmaster excels is casting beyond the feeding fish and bringing the spoon into the shad school and stopping, letting the spoon flutter down through the shad. Many times, there are fish lurking below the feeding frenzy to pick off injured shad that fall.

I am thinking about the Eliminator this fall when I find shad schooling. I plan to try it weightless just under the surface, it looks like it could be a killer.

  Has anyone had any luck like this yet?
