lunker punker's

Featured Replies

Just got a couple of these in and fished them once for a few minutes.  I got a hit on one from a smaller fish (2lb??).  These are the 5 and 6 inch molded punkers.  I love the action on these baits.  Any suggestions on fishing techniques that have worked for you???  Are they good for deadsticking as well?  Thanks everyone.

Love my 5 inch LP. I trimmed a little off the back hook to help it out even more. I just tend to walk it in and only really vary the speed of how fast I do it.

yea, it's a walking bait specifically. I wouldn't try dead sticking it unless I had it wrapped from SBI. Even then, I don't know if I would.

Much better deadsticking options out there.

Use it as it was intended, walk it.

I was thinking about getting the original wood punkers in the 6" (2.4 oz) & 9" (3.5 oz) for next summer. What kind of rod would you guys reccomend for these baits? I would think your typical 7'6' -8' longhandled swimbait rod would be too awkward for these baits. Do you think the 9" bait would be too big for the Michigan bass that I fish for where Bass 7 lbs and over are rarely caught.

I would say throw it, what is the worst that can happen, you don't catch a fish? It happens when throwing big baots.

As for rod, it depends how you walk baits. I don't mind a long handle as I tuck the handle up in ny armpit. Specifically I use a 7'9 Daiwa Heartland rated up to 8 oz. It's perfect for walking, as its got a pretty soft tip when launching the 4 oz baits. You should be tossing them now. I've got a 9" wood you can use until your water freezes. Let me know..

Thanks for the offer but I don't have the right rod/reel combo for that yet, hopefully will be set to go next summer.
