Featured Replies

Hey guys happy to join this forum. I'm just curious to see what rod you guys suggest I put on my new reel ( shimano saros 3000 fa) this will be used for large mouth bass and peacock bass. please name brand, name, action all that applies. I'm looking to spend $80-100 on this rod so keep it in that ball park please. Also planing on using power prowler braided line possibly 10# vermillion red. All suggestions are appreciated before hand

Fishing miami/broward county. I have some penn battles for my salt water but im realy liking all the discussion about shimano so im dying to get a rod that fits perfect with my reel and allows me to set the hook perfect and is sensitive to anything lol

daiwa lexa, st croix mojo, abu garcia veritas and volatile rods are good, the extreme rods from basspro is my favorite, btw i suggest you use 20 pounds powerpro because you can get a big snook or tarpon in one of those canals or lake while fishing for bass and peacock

But if I hook a tarpon with no leader or circle hook I'll probably lose it anyways right lol sorry for being the negative nancy

But 20# it is... Is red vermillion good color? I know it doesn't matter but I'm just verifying

get a medium heavy, with fast action, color of braid dose not matter unless is a bright color line that fish can see it in very clear water, so red or green is perfect color, and even if you dont have a leader to that 20 pound line, your chances are greater to land the fish, my best friend never use leader and he catches snook and tarpon with his bass setup. you need to be prepare because if your tring to get a bass and you get a snook on your line with a 10# pp, youll be in alot of trouble

I would use 15# braid, 20# may even be better as it's more versatile. Whether you hook a LMB, pea, snook or tarpon, you have cover to deal with, a mh 10/20 rod isn't a bad choice and opens you up for a variety of species.  I personally use a leader 100% of the time.
